Thomas Jeys
The subject of this sketch, Thomas Jeys, was born in England, Nov. 10, 1828, and died at his home in Indianola, Dec 28, 1906. Thomas Jeys came to this country and located in New York in 1849 and was married to Fannie E. Parrish in 1853 at Troy, N.Y. To this union were born twelve children, eleven of whom are living and ten were present at the funeral which was held at the Friends Church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W. C. Martin, whose acquaintance with the deceased dates back for fifty years. His wife, Fannie E. Jeys, died Feb 2, 1886. He was married to Mary Labertew, who still survives him, Nov. 14, 1892. He also has one brother living at Sergeant Bluffs, Iowa.
In early life Thomas Jeys was converted and joined the M. E. Church. About the year 1870 he united with the Christian Church of which he remained a member till the time of his death. He was a member of the 48th Iowa Infantry, and had been a loyal Odd Fellow since 1862. During all his life in Indianola Thomas Jeys was known as an honest man and at all times had the full respect of all. The family appreciates the many acts of kindness shown by the neighbors and friends in their sad bereavement.
