Shirley Ann Bunch
(August 22, 1923 - January 22, 2017)

Shirley Ann ( Day) Bunch, age 93, daughter of Milford Castell Day and Bessie Susan Frazier Day was born August 22, 1923 in Brighton, Iowa and passed away January 22, 2017 in Des Moines , Iowa. She received her education in the Indianola schools and graduated in 1941. She then attended Simpson College. Shirley lived in Kirksville, MO. while her dad attended medical school, then the family lived in Bellflower, Mo .and Tampa, Fl. before moving back to Indianola in 1931. She married Richard Harold Bunch in 1946. They lived in Ames, IA. For five years while Richard attended college. They moved back to Indianola where both remained until their deaths. Shirley had worked for J.C. Penny and Reuben H. Donnelly but most of her life was spent taking care of her family and home. For many years she was an active helper and worker with Helping Hand. Surviving are her children; David Warren Bunch (Julie) of Indianola and Barbara Lynn DelBene of Chicago, IL.; four grandchildren, Genna Prine, Emily (Tim) Dupuy, Danny Delbene and Nick DelBene. She belonged to First United Methodist Church, Pi Beta Phi sorority and Warren County Historical Society. Shirley enjoyed her volunteer work, reading, writing poetry, home and family.
