Billy Dean “Bill” Hammond of Carlisle passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Memorial services for Bill will be held at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. A memorial visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM prior to services at the funeral home. Bill was born on December 11, 1933 in Beaconsfield, Iowa to George and Laura (Harrington) Hammond. Bill joined the US Army on March 18, 1954 in Des Moines, Iowa and was honorably discharged on March 13, 1956 from Ft. Sheridan, Illinois. Bill worked for Union Sheet Metal for the majority of his career. Bill is survived by his 3 sons, Bracy Hammond of Melcher, Bart Hammond of Des Moines and Jason Hammond of Hartford; daughter, Marlisa(Tim)Pilcher of Des Moines; siblings, Gerald Hammond and Betty Hammond both of Hartford and 5 grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his wife; grandson Bracy Hammond Jr. and his parents.
