Wilma Ruth Hardin, 98, passed away Friday, December 30, 2016. Wilma was born on February 2, 1918 in Greene County, Iowa to Thomas and Vera (Hefflefinger) Minor. She graduated from Dana High School and from Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in 1939. Wilma married Edward Hardin on August 8, 1940 at her parents' home in Greene County. She was the school nurse in Carlisle for 26 years. After retirement, she and Ed spent many winters in Florida. Wilma was a member of the Carlisle United Methodist Church and P.E.O. Chapter NT. Surviving are two sons, Thomas (Gayle) Hardin of Lee's Summit, Missouri and James (Marla) Hardin of Pella, Iowa; six grandchildren, Michael (Kathi) Hardin, Steven (Katie) Hardin, Jeffrey (Carrie) Hardin, Brent Hardin, Alissa (Chad) Van Rheenen, and Lori (Brian) Conway. Surviving also are ten great- grandchildren; Maguire and Cooper Hardin, Hailey and Jameson Hardin, Connor, Grant, and Reese Hardin, Anna Van Rheenen, Brady and Grace Conway, brother, Dean Minor, and sister-in-law, Dolores (Mayes) Hardin. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Hardin; two infant sons; daughter-in-law, Barbara (Groenendyk) Hardin, brother-in-law, Worth W. Hardin, sister-in-law, Gertrude (Madsen) Minor and brother, Charles Minor. Visitation for family and friends will be 9:00-10:30 on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the Carlisle United Methodist Church in Carlisle, Iowa with services following at 11:00. Burial will be in the Carlisle Township Cemetery. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Carlisle United Methodist Church.
