Frances Louise Hupke
(May 13, 1931 - June 10, 2016)

Frances Louise (Batten) Hupke, 85, devoted wife and Mother to her family, went to be with the Lord at 10:10 p.m. on June 10, 2016. Frances died of rare lung decease at the Mercy Hospice House in Johnston, Iowa. A short service will be held on Saturday, June 25 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Carlisle Christian Church, 305 Market Street, Carlisle, Iowa. A Celebration of Life will follow the service with family members to share stories and memories. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Frances Hupke family.
Frances was born in Mitchellville, Iowa on May 13, 1931. She lived in Des Moines with her parents and brother until she was 6, when they moved to Carlisle. After graduating from Carlisle in 1949, she attended the Iowa State Teachers College (now known as University of Northern Iowa) receiving a two year teacher’s certificate in 1951. In 1956 she married Lester Francis Hupke, they returned to Carlisle. She was a stay at home Mom until she went to work for the U.S. Postal Service in 1968, retiring in 1991.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard Lee Batten and Virginia Frances (Zeek) Batten, her step mother, Naomi Batten, step sister Clarice Ruth Penley, grandaughters Hannah Nichea Hupke and Danielle Louise Descoteau.
Survivors are her husband, Lester, 3 sons, Brian (Kim), Bruce (Joni), Brad (Lorie), two daughters Brenda (Dennis) Descoteau and Brooke Hupke, sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren, and a younger brother Harvey Lee Batten.
