Karol Ann Coffin Osgood Funke of Carlisle, Iowa passed away Sunday August 30, 2015 at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center. Karol was born July 30, 1944 to Alice Isabelle (Kerr Coffin) and George Claude Coffin Jr. in Marshalltown, Iowa. Karol grew up in Marshalltown and graduated in 1962 and graduated from Marshalltown Community College in 1964. In 1966 she graduated from the State College of Iowa in Cedar Falls with a B.A. in Elementary Ed. Karol married Carl Osgood on November 12, 1966. Karol taught 2nd grade at South Tama from 1967-1970. Karol married Jerry Funke of Marshalltown in 1987 and in 1988 they moved to Carlisle. Karol worked at Mongomery Ward, Walmart, Carlisle School District as a media associate. Karol was a member of the Community United Presbyterian Church in Hartford, Iowa. She served on the Mission Committee, fellowship Committee, and food pantry in Carlisle. Karol liked playing Mahjong and cards, enjoyed reading, baking, traveling and the shade garden and spending time with family and friends. Karol is survived by her daughter Kari (Rick) Krutsinger of Russell, Iowa; step sons, Kelly (Tracy) Funke of Godfrey and Jeff (Nicolle) Funke of Alpharetta, GA. ; 7 grandchildren, Brenna and Megan Reynolds, Daniel, Ross, Katherine, Kaela, Kassie Funke; sister Linda (Dean) Eslinger of Grundy Center, Iowa. Karol was preceded in death by her parents, step father Albert Butler, brother, George Coffin, husband Jerry Funke. Visitation for Karol will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday September 3, 2015 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle, Iowa. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday September 4, 2015 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle, Iowa with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marshalltown.
