Cleva Kerr, age 89, of Carlisle died of complications of Pyelonephritis and Pneumonia at Wesley Acres Hospice in Des Moines on April 6, 2016. Cleva was born in rural Scotland County Missouri. She lived in Douds and Danville, Iowa before moving with her family to Carlisle in 1961. Cleva was a former rural school teacher in Missouri and a substitute teacher in Carlisle for 5 years. Cleva was employed by Ruan Transportation for 25 years. After retirement in 1992, she worked part time at the Carlisle Public Library for 14 years. Cleva was a charter member of P.E.O. Chapter NT. Cleva is survived by a son Bruce (Elaine) Kerr of Carlisle; 3 grandchildren, Allison(Jeremy) and their children Cade and Lucy, stationed in LA., Alicia (Andy) and their children Drew and Claire, stationed in Japan, and Brian (Maria) and their son Noah, stationed in VA. Cleva's greatest joys in life were her family, her home on Lexington Street, her years at the Carlisle Public Library and working outdoors with flowers. Memorial gifts may be made to the Carlisle Public Library or the Carlisle United Methodist Church. A Memorial Funeral Service for Cleva will be held at the Carlisle United Methodist Church, Saturday, at 10:00 a.m., May 14, 2016. Online condolences may be made at www.petersonfuneralservice.com
