Phillip Duane Mott, 84, found peace on Saturday, August 8th at The Village in Indianola, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 12th, at the Carlisle Christian Church at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 11th, at Peterson's Funeral Home from 6-8 pm in Carlisle, with family present. Duane was born on November 27th, 1930 to Thomas and Flavia (McClain) Mott of Carlisle, Iowa. He attended early school at the Scotch Ridge Country School and graduated from Carlisle High School in 1949. Following graduation, Duane married Cherry Patterson on August 13th, 1950. They had one son, Steven. Duane farmed on his family farm until he purchased the Indianola Sale Barn in 1962. Here, Duane conducted weekly sales and operated a hog buying station. He also combined an auction service with his other business interests and conducted numerous sales in the Warren County area. After selling his business in 1987, he worked at The Knoxville Sale Barn and was later a farm representative for the Hartford Carlisle Bank. Duane served for 45 years at the Warren County 4H Sale, was past president of the Carlisle Alumni Association in 1993, was a member of the committee for "Paving the Way in Carlisle " in 1996, and was past president of the Lion's Club. He was a member of the Carlisle Christian Church for over 60 years, serving as deacon, elder, and trustee and chairman of the Property Committee. He was a Vice President, at inception, and charter member of the Carlisle Dollars for Scholars and volunteered his services at many benefit auctions, including the Medora Church Auction for over 35 years. Duane is survived by his wife, Cherry; son Steven (Tresa); grandsons, Kyle (Brooke), Kevin, and Brant (Nikki) Leonard; granddaughter, Brynn Phillips; two great grandchildren, Ivy Mott and Prier Phillips; a sister, Joyce (Jim) Penick, and many nieces nephews, cousins, and great friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carlisle Christian Church or to the Carlisle Dollars for scholars. A Special thanks to the staff of The Village, Dr. Wimer, & Wesley Life Hospice.
