Tressa Epps Bartholomew was born March 30, 1905 in Summerset, Iowa to Albert and Bertha Huff Epps. Tressa passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017 at her home in Carlisle. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the Missionary Baptist Church in Carlisle. Interment will take place in the Carlisle Township Cemetery following funeral services. Tressa was a homemaker and lived her entire life in central Iowa. Tressa was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Carlisle. She loved music and played piano for Sunday school for many years. Tressa's most prized possession was her piano which was purchased when she began lessons over 100 years ago. On February 1 she was verified by Gerontology Research Group as Iowa's oldest resident and 7th oldest in the United States, 44th in the world. Tressa was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Grant; son, Newton; daughter, Avis Wittkowski; 3 brothers, 2 sisters, and a granddaughter. Tressa is survived by her 2 daughters Mariglee Williams of Carlisle and Joyce(Bill)Bender of Des Moines; sisters, Phyllis Mason of Des Moines and Shirley(Karl)Burgett of Centuria, Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 54 great great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
