Carolyn Lorraine Fenimore
(September 24, 1930 - May 7, 2016)

Carolyn Lorriane Fenimore was born in Summerset, Iowa on September 24th, 1930 to Nellie and Kinsey Neely. She met her husband, Sidney Fenimore in 1947 while roller skating. She fell and he picked her up. They lived in Iowa until moving to Southern California in the early 60’s. Carolyn loved living in California. She had a beautiful garden and could grow just about anything.
She was a wonderful cook, always baking treats for her family and friends. They loved to entertain and would often have a house full of friends and even strangers around the dinner table. Sometimes after church on Sunday, she and her husband would go to a nursing home. She would play the piano and he would give a sermon. She had a beautiful heart and loved serving people. Carolyn became a widow in 1975 and never remarried. She worked hard to provide for her family as a single mom. Carolyn moved back to Iowa in 1990 to care for her mother and remained there until she moved to Oregon in 2007 with her daughter. In 2013 Carolyn moved with her daughter and son-in-law to Austin Texas. She enjoyed sitting in the backyard watching the birds and squirrels. Even though Carolyn had dementia, her smile would light up your heart and she enjoyed the last few years of her time on this earth.
On May 7th, 2016, surrounded by her daughter, son, granddaughter and son-in-law, Carolyn went home to be with her family in Heaven. She is survived by her four children, Sidney, Craig, Dana, Randy Scott, and Kim; four grandchildren, Nicole, Paxton, Joseph and Spencer; eight great- grandchildren and her brother, Gayle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sid; brother, Roland Eugene and grandson, Aaron. We love and miss you mom. You were a warrior who taught us what is important in life. You will live on in the lives of those who will forever be changed for knowing you. Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 13 at Overton Funeral Home, 501 W. Ashland, Indianola with burial following in the Scotch Ridge Cemetery, rural Carlisle. Visitation will be held from Noon to 2 p.m. Friday prior to services.
