Earlene Marcella McKee
(March 8, 1931 - July 26, 2016)

Earlene Fortune McKee, 85, passed away July 26, 2016 at home due to angio sarcoma cancer. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, July 29 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial immediately following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 28th with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Earlene was born on March 8, 1931 in Lucas County, Iowa to Earl and Ruth (Lord) Fortune. The eldest of 8 children, Earlene moved to Des Moines after high school graduation from Corydon and started her career working for the Iowa Department of Public Safety where she met and later married Jack McKee. Earlene spent the majority of her career in Ag-related fields retiring from the Warren county ASCS office in 1990. Earlene enjoyed any time spent with family and loved summers camping and boating at the lake. A devoted wife, who enjoyed her 60 years marriage with husband Jack, they traveled throughout the United States and enjoyed twelve warm winters in Lake Havasu City, Arizona following retirement.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Jack McKee; daughters, Michele (Dennis) Walker and Marcie (Dwight) Freeman; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren and six siblings. She was proceded in death by their son, Warren McKee, her parents and a brother, Charles Fortune. Memorials may be made to Salvation Army.
