Services for Michael David Alexander, 52, who passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016 in Indianola, will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 1 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Michael David Alexander was born May 30/31, 1964 in Des Moines, IA to Robert G and Bonnie L (Roby) Alexander. He was born on the first time change so he celebrated his birthday on May 30th for 50 years. His father found his birth certificate and it stated May 31st right after his birthday that year. Mike graduated from Seymour IA high school in 1982, completed a course for Airline Reservationist in 1983 and also held a diploma in Motorcycle Repair Tech from Penn Foster University. He was a Certified Iowa DNR ATV Safety Instructor and devoted many hours to teaching children and adults how to ride safely. Mike joined the Free Mason’s at age 18 following his father and grandfather in the Milan Lodge in Milo, IA recently changing to the Warren Lodge in Indianola. He held many offices over the years serving several years as a Master. He was a past Za Ga Zig Shrine member as well as Eastern Star. He was a loyal member of the Iowa Off Hwy Vehicle Assoc., The North River Ridge Runners, MITRA, The South Central Dirt Riders and several other ATV groups riding in many states over the years. He was an avid collector of toy tractors and semis and spent many days going to shows with his wife and father. Mike was co-owner of Double A Detail and spent many days detailing anything from bicycles to Semi’s to antique cars and farm machinery. In the last few years he worked closely with Todd and Roxanne Muir and their family in Jefferson detailing and working at Muir Embroidery, their Iowa State Fair Booth. Mike was also a member of the Iowa State Fair Blue Ribbon Foundation and enjoyed working special fair shows and events over the years and a member of the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. In June 2015, Mike was forced to retire from Menards after 15 years due to his declining health. Mike married Bonnie Sego- Arnold on May 7th, 2000 at sunset at Lake Ahquabi gaining 2 daughters, Kara (Curtis Stowers), and Meghin (David Blythe) later adding grandsons Gavin and Jayce and granddaughter Lexy. His service cats, Merle Hay Meow and Mitten Meow rounded out the family. He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Bonnie Alexander, Indianola, IA; father in law, Steve Kyner (Nancy) of Humeston, IA; sisters-in-law, Peggy (Jeff) Foland, Decatur, IA; Cindy (Rod) Richardson, Tama; special brothers-in-law, Fernando Fernandez (Libby, Jay, Nic, and Vivi) and Bryant Piner (Shelly and Brandon) of Des Moines; step-daughters, Kara Arnold (Curtis Stowers) Osceola, IA and Meghin Blythe (David Blythe) Ellsworth, IA; grandsons, Gavin Quigley and Jayce Stowers ;sister, Carla (Bob) Brown Indianola; nieces & nephews, Ashley Brown ,Indianola, and Becca (Jeremy) Green of Des Moines, Calvin (Mikaella) Richardson, Tama, IA, Denice (Eric) Richardson, Mechanicsville, IA, Allen (Jamie) Sego, Katie Jones all of Decatur, IA, ShayDe Sego (Trevin Hill) Greenfield, IA; his beloved cats Merle Hay Meow and Mittens Dolly Meow as well as many other family and friends. He is preceeded in death by his parents; grandparents, and stepmother Joan Hommer Alexander; In-laws, George Sego and Judy Sego; granddaughter, Lexy Jade Ann Marie Quigley; nephew, Ryan Brown.
