(April 30, 1941 - September 9, 2016)

Services for Ronald E. Walker, 75, who passed away, Friday, September 9, 2016 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 15 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Cremation will follow services.

Ronald was born to Hazel Irene Walker and Walter Bruce Walker and raised by his great step-father, Rex Jones. He attended school in Bloomfield, Iowa and worked there for a short time before going to California with a cousin for a job. Ron was married to Miriam (Sue) Walker and had two wonderful sons. Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel I. Jones, brother Johnny, step-father Rex Jones, and father Walter Bruce Walker. Ron and Patricia Schmidt were married August 6, 1976 and just celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary. Ron had worked for Younker Brothers downtown electrician shop for 40 years. He loved his life and friends but most of all his family. Those left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Patricia; his sons, Ronald R. (Debbie) Walker, grandson, Aaron Phillips and David J. (Sheila) Walker; granddaughters, Madison E. (Andy) King and Allison K. Walker; numerous other great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his best friend, Richard Jones, cousin and conspirator. You will be missed so much my wonderful husband and father.
Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, September 14 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Memorials may be given to Hospice Care of Iowa or Cancer Centers of Iowa in Ronald’s name.
