(November 12, 1925 - October 2, 2016)

Visitation for Wilma Elizabeth Behnke, 90, who passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016 at The Village in Indianola, will be held 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, October 4 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Graveside services will be held 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, October 5 in the Concordia Cemetery, Forest Park, IL. Wilma will be buried next to her parents Mary “Nell” and George Behnke and her siblings Mary and George.
Wilma Behnke was born in Cicero, IL on November 12, 1925. Her primary career was working for Time-Life Magazine in Chicago. After retiring, in the eighties, she and her sister Mary relocated to Montrose, CO. They enjoyed travel in the United States and Europe. Several years ago, Wilma relocated to Milo, IA and had many happy times and adventures with the family of Julie and Rod Fridley, that included Broadway shows at The Civic Center, a hot-air balloon ride, whale-watching, and other happy times with family and friends. She was a life-long White Sox fan and was honored at a recent White Sox game. She was a huge fan of books, movies, television and theatre and had met many celebrities in the Chicago Theatre circuit. In recent years, her top loves were John Wayne, ice cream and her cat Angie.
Surviving relatives are Joan Ash of Deming, NM, Jean Price of Hardy, AR, Tom (Mari) Peterson of Berwyn, IL, Richard Peterson of Chicago, IL, Jayne Ash of Los Lunas, NM, Jeanette Ashworth of Langley, WA, Julie (Rod) Fridley of Milo, IA along with many cousins.
