(February 4, 1954 - October 23, 2016)

Heaven gained an angel that was truly one of a kind when Cynthia Louise Nernes, 62, passed away suddenly on Sunday morning, October 23rd, 2016.
Cindi was born in Rhode Island, February 4th, 1954, to parents Prisilla and Allen Bond. Allen served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Rhode Island. Soon after Cindi’s birth, the family returned to Southern California where she was raised and attended school. She was married in Las Vegas on September 27th 1987 to her husband Mark Nernes. Cindi and her family moved to Iowa where -over the next several years- she held positions in the Leon community at Teddy Bear's Day Care, Pumps Plus, and Dollar General. Loved by all her community she was well known for her big heart, warm smile, and her willingness to lend an ear to a friend in need. Until her retirement in February of this year, she worked in customer service at Wal-Mart in Indianola, Iowa. Cindi was a devoted wife and a loving mother. She will forever be remembered for her beautiful red hair and for the special love she had for children and animals. Cindi collected faeries, loved to sing, read, tend to her flowers, and enjoyed watching sci-fi and horror movies. She was preceded in death by her parents Prisilla Louise Bond and Allen Daryl Bond, and father in law Larry G. Nernes. Cindi leaves behind beloved husband of 29 years and best friend, Mark Nernes. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the hearts of her children, Stacy Machele Wilburn with husband Brent Wilburn, Robert 'Bobby' Miner with his intended wife Dawnlee, and Matthew Nernes with wife Kasey Nernes; as well as Charlee Jo Marks, mother to two of Cindi’s grandchildren.
She is survived by her one sister, Machele Ayala; Step siblings Peter, Michael, and Machelle Lynn; Mother in law Helen Nernes; Two sister in laws, Linda Rhodes with husband C.J. Rhodes, and LaRaine Nernes Lyons; Brother in law Timothy Nernes.
Cindi held all of the children in her life very dear to her heart and leaves behind 11 grandchildren Megan, Anthony, Austin, Noah, Chandler, Cruz, McClain, Emberlynn, Tripp, Adalynn, and Olivia and one great grandchild Ainsley Machele; three nieces Alicia, Kelda, and Angelica; two nephews Clifton and Kevin; and two great nephews Saxon and Lukas.
Cindi will be lovingly remembered by a countless number of family and friends who are all warmly welcomed to the celebration of her life scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 5th, 6pm at The Eagles Lodge, 2329 N.
