Memorial services for Miriam Louise Weber, 89, who died at The Village in Indianola, IA on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2017 in the Heritage Room at The Village.
Miriam was born December 15, 1927in Vernon County, WI to Earl and Viratine Cade Weber. She grew up on the farm near Viroqua, WI. She graduated from Viroqua High School in 1945 and from Simpson College in Indianola, IA. While in college, she became involved with the work of the Warren County Group Ministry and worked with the youth group at Center Chapel United Methodist Church for twelve years.
In 1958, Miriam enrolled at Boston University School of Theology where she received her Master’s Degree in Christian Education in 1961. She then returned to the Midwest and accepted the position of Director of Christian Education at Trinity United Methodist Church in Chippewa Falls, WI, for 18 years. Her last place of employment was Hanscom Park United Methodist Church in Omaha where she served for 11 years until her retirement in 1990.
Miriam was a letter writer and kept in touch with many relatives and friends who had touched her life over the years.
Two special trips, one to the Holy Land, and one to Germany were big events she enjoyed in later years. Following retirement, she moved back to Wisconsin and lived with her dad until he died in 2000. She then moved to Knoxville, IA to be near family. That was followed by a move to The Village in 2007.
Miriam’s memory will be cherished by her family and friends: sister, Marjorie Moore of Indianola, brother Richard Weber and wife Eloise of Platteville, Wisconsin; six nieces and nephews: Ann Johnson of Norwalk, Kathleen Moore of Mason City, Philip Moore and wife Char Heitman of Eugene, Oregon, Carol Zumwalt and husband Ronald, Indianola, Kristen Weber and Ebbie Duggins of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; seven great nieces and nephews: Samuel Zumwalt and Rachel Zumwalt of Indianola, Andrew Zumwalt of West Des Moines, Jennifer Zumwalt Jones, her husband Joe, and daughters Leia and Kate, of Indianola, Kurt Johnson of Phoenix, Rio Heitman-Moore of Eugene, Oregon, Cody Herrod of Nashville, Tennessee.
