Daniel Richard Minnich
(Dec 6, 1839 - Feb 4, 1920)

Indianola Herald, Indianola, IA, Thurs., Feb 19, 1920, p.2
Daniel R. Minnich was born in Tuscarawas county, Ohio, December 6, 1839, and died at his home in Indianola, Iowa, February 4th, 1920, aged 80 years, 1 month and 28 days. He came with his father’s family to Guthrie County, Iowa in 1857. In 1862 he enlisted in Company I, 29th Iowa Infantry, serving three years. He was converted in 1878, uniting with the M. E. church, to which he was faithful all these years, taking especial interest in the Sunday School and church the last few years of his life. He was married June 30, 1870, to Rhoda E. Puntenney of Carroll county, Iowa, a little later moving on his farm near Dedham, Iowa, where he lived until moving to Indianola a little more than four years ago. He was the father of thirteen children, four having preceded him to the home beyond, the others with their mother, being present at the funeral. He was a charter member of W. S. Winnett G.A.R. Post at Dedham, and after coming to Indianola was a member of James Randolph Post, to which he was as loyal and true as he ever was to his old comrades of the Civil War. Short service was held at the home Thursday afternoon conducted by his pastor, Rev. Fred N. Willis. The remains were taken Friday to his old home church at Dedham where services were held by a former pastor, Rev. A. J. Matthews, of Council Bluffs, assisted by Rev. Smith, pastor at Dedham. The body was laid to rest in the cemetery near that place. Card of Thanks – We wish to thank the neighbors and friends for the sympathy and kindness shown us in our sorrow, also for the beautiful flowers. Mrs. D. R. Minnich and family
