OBITUARY

Riley Goodrich

Riley Goodrich, son of Andrew and Margaret Goodrich, was born in Warren county, Iowa, September 8, 1862, and departed this life at the hospital in Clarinda February 15, 1935, at the age of 72 years, 5 months and 7 days..

In the fall of 1890 he was united in marriage to Ella Saddoris. To this union seven children were born, six sons and one daughter, the latter dying in infancy.

The children are Arthur and George of Washington state, Douglas, Donald, Roy and Charley of Alberta, Canada.

He has lived in several different states, Nebraska, Washington and Canada, and always had the desire to die in Iowa. In 1924 his wife passed away at their home in Washington state. He was a good neighbor and father, always enjoyed having company and always seemed happy if the clouds were hanging low. He was not an unbeliever of the bible.

He had been in failing health for the last six months. He arrived in Osceola November 13, at which time he was struck by a freight train and never recovered from the injury. He suffered greatly until the Lord saw fit to call him home.

He leaves to mourn his passing his six sons and three sisters, Jennie Welch of Chariton, Iowa, Anna Welch of Woodburn, Iowa, Susan Swartzlander of Humboldt, Iowa, and a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends who mourn his passing.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. F. C. McCallon of the Church of Christ at the Webster Funeral Home at Osceola, February 22, at 11 a.m. Burial at the Shaver cemetery by the side of his father and mother and little sister.
