Obituary—Lizzie A. Wilson
In the presence of the profound mystery and the tragedy that ends a human life with all its passions and temptations and sorrows and joys in the presence of the fact that we know so little why that life began and why that life has ended. Human language fails to express the sorrow that comes in the hurting hour.
Lizzie A. Shafer as born at Pella, Marion County, Iowa, March 3, 1875, where she resided until 1894, when she moved with her parents to Bevington, Iowa. She was married to Edgar W. Wilson August 14, 1901 and since that time she has lived east of Milo. She died March 8, 1910, age 35 year, and 5 day. She is survived by her husband, three sisters: Mrs. Susan Smith and Sarah and Margret Shafer, and two brothers: William H. and Charles A. Shafer. Her father and mother, one brother and one sister having proceeded her to the great beyond. No thought of her early departure from the walks of life entered the minds of those who knew her and the sad announcement that she had "gone from the earth forever," was a shock to every one of her hosts of friends. Short funeral services were held at the home, March 9th, conducted by C. S. Fair. [copied from a list of obituaries by Rev Charles S. Fair]
