(May 10, 1840 – Jan 17, 1916)

The New Virginian newspaper, New Virginia, Iowa, Thursday, Jan 27, 1916, front page
Obituary – Mrs. Timothy Grubb
Elizabeth Catherine Stech was born in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, on May 10th, 1840, and died at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Bessie Otis, at 1813 Crawford Street, Boone, Iowa, on Monday, January 17th. In 1855 she migrated to the state of Illinois with her parents. On October 10th, 1858, she was united in marriage to Timothy Grubb and to this union was born five children – two dying in infancy. Left to mourn her loss are John T. Grubb, Colorado City, Colo., Sarah R. King, Boone, Iowa, and Mary C. Webb, Waukee, Iowa. Two brothers and two sisters who reside in the east, four grand children and four great grand children. At the early age of fifteen years she united with the Lutheran church and remained a devoted Christian unto the very end. She was conscious up to the very last and gave strong evidence that she was ready to go to her home beyond the skies. No services were held at the home, the body being brought to New Virginia and the funeral service held from the M. E. church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Geo. W. Koser, after which the remains were laid to rest in the New Virginia cemetery beside her husband who preceeded her to the better world several years ago.
Card of Thanks – We desire to thank all the kind friends here at New Virginia who so kindly assisted us in every way possible at the last sad rites over our darling departed Mother. May God bless you one and all. The Children.
