(Nov 11, 1867 – Dec 30, 1915)

The New Virginian newspaper, New Virginia, Iowa, Thursday, Jan 6, 1916, front page, col. 5
Obituary – Mrs. W. J. Kimes
Zora Dobbins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Dobbins, was born near Floyd, Virginia, November 11, 1867, and died at her home near New Virginia, Iowa, December 30, 1915, aged 48 years, 1 month, and 19 days. When 8 years of age she was deprived of her mothers love and tender care, and in the spring of 1887 she came to Iowa from Virginia, and for several years she madeher home with Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Rundall. On March 13, 1893, she was united in marriage to W. J. Kimes, and located on the farm where she and her husband were living at the time of her death. Last August she was taken sick and was a patient sufferer up to the time of her death. Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her death three sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Mary Lester of Indianola, Iowa, Harve Dobbins of Roseville, Illinois, and Henry, Alice, Nannie and Giles of Floyd, Virginia. Her parents have both preceded her to the better land. Four years ago she and her husband united with the M. E. church here in New Virginia and she lived a true consistent Christian life. Only a few days prior to her death she gave her relatives and friends the most positive assurance that her peace was made with God and and that if it was His will, she welcomed death as the medium through which she would come into full possession of that other and nobler life, which has been prepared for those who have accepted Christ as their Saviour.
Card of Thanks – I wish to express my sincere thanks to all the neighbors and friends who during the long sickness and death of my wife helped in any way, to care for her or by any act of kindness shown her. W. J. Kimes
