Obituary – James Bonney
Mr. James Bonney passed away at the home of his daughter in Weschester, Ill, at the age of 77 years, 7 months, and 12 days, his sudden death was a great shock to all. James Edmond Bonney was born June 10, 1877, in a log cabin, in Madison County, Iowa. He lived the greater part of his life in the vicinity of New Virginia, Iowa, and was united in marriage August 25th, 1901, to Mary Ellen Forman. To this union five children were born. His wife, Mary Ellen, and his daughter, Ethel, preceeded him in death. He leaves to mourn his death, 3 sons: Verne Bonney of Maxwell, Iowa, Orville G. Bonney of Des Moines, Iowa, Ralph Bonney of Burt, Iowa, and one daughter, Ruth Hinkle of Westchester, Ill. Also surviving is a brother, Alva Bonney of Greybull, Wyo., and another brother, Jack Bonney of Bremerton, Washington. One sister, Marie Fiest of Portland, Oregon, also a brother Fred Bonney of Des Moines, Iowa. There are also four grandchildren, Sheryl, Linda, and James Lee Bonney, son and daughters of Orville G. Bonney, and Judy Bonney, daughter of Ralph Bonney. Jim Bonney recently moved to Westchester, Ill, and made his home with his daughter, Ruth Hinkle, and husband. It was there he passed away, about 4:30 P. M. Saturday, Jan 22nd, 1955. He lived life as it should be lived, loving everyone and all living things. Funeral services were held at the New Virginia Methodist Church on January 25, with Rev. Leroy Moore officiating. Burial was at the New Virginia cemetery.
