George G. Nuzum
(May 22, 1870 – Jan 26, 1905)

The Advocate-Tribune newspaper, Indianola, Iowa, Feb 2, 1905, p.6
2nd column, Wick news
George G. Nuzum was born May 22, 1870, in McClure county, Ill, and came with his parents to Jackson township, this county, when but a year old and resided there till his death, Jan 26, 1905. Big George, as he was usually called, was one of those big, strong, hearty, fellows who had a cheery greeting and happy word for everyone he met, and was almost the last one you would suppose could ever be the victim of the white scourge, consumption. But about a year ago the premonitory cough gave indication that his days were soon to be numbered. Slowly but surely he wasted away till the end came. During his last sickness he was lovingly watched over by this brother, Jesse, and his good wife. From their home, his body was conveyed to the Wick church where funeral services were conducted by Rev. Rarick. A few years ago he united with the M.E.[Methodist Episcopal] church and died trusting in a Savior who is able to save to the uttermost.
