Mary J. Fogle
Mary J. Myers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Myers, was born at Marion, Ohio, February 20, 1833, died at her home near Lacona, February 16, 1917, age 83 years, 11 months, and 27 days. She leaves to mourn her loss ten children, besides other relatives and friends. Was married February 29, 1852, to John B. Stemen, to this union were born nine children of which seven are still living, two have preceded her. Mr. Stemen died at Nashville, Tennessee, in 1865, was a soldier serving his country at the time. The children are: S. A. Stemen of Huntington, Indiana; Chas. C. Stemen, Osceola, Iowa; Peter P. Stemen, Elida, Ohio; Mary E. Clevenger, Ladora, Iowa; James L. Stemen, Lisbon, Iowa; Mrs. Clara B. Noble, Chariton, Iowa; Isaac A. Stemen of Pellston, Michigan; Eliza A. Stemen, Lacona, Iowa; and John F. Stemen of Long Pine, Nebraska, deceased.
She came to Iowa in 1865, was married to Joel Fogle, February 1867, to this union were born three children: Columbus L. Fogle; Ralph E. Fogle, Lacona, and Mrs. Stella Williams. Mr. Fogle died March 30, 1888. She united with the Christian church at Marion, Ohio, in her early married life, moved her membership to Lacona and remained a member of this church until death. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday at 10 a. m. conducted by Rev. C. J. Henderson, and intement was made in the Cochran cemetery.
