A memorial service for Elizabeth Osborne will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Elizabeth Rose (Feind) Osborne was born April 21, 1941, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to Rev. Robert and Alice (Engel) Feind. The family moved to Bismarck, ND in 1953, and Beth graduated from Bismarck High School in 1959. That same year, the family moved to Milbank, SD. After high school, Beth attended Westmar College in LeMars, IA, and graduated in 1963 with a degree in English Education, and a minor in French. She taught English in Skokie, Illinois from 1963-65. She married Rev. Ronald Osborne in 1964, and the couple moved to Iowa City, IA in 1965. Beth taught English in the Iowa City schools for one year, and later substitute taught in the Iowa City area. Son, Chad, was born in 1966; daughter, Ann, was born in 1968; and Beth stayed home to care for the children for several years. She then began working part-time for the University of Iowa in the mid-1970’s, working first for the Department of Residence, and then for the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Beth was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in the mid-1970’s, but she continued to work for the University until she went on total disability in the early 1990’s. Beth and Ron divorced in 1986. In 1996, as her health continued to decline, Beth moved to Pella, IA to live with daughter, Ann, and her family. The family moved to Greenfield in 2000, and then to Indianola in 2007, where Beth lived until her death on December 3, 2015. Beth loved to read, listen to classical music and NPR, and spend time with her family. Beth was survived by her sisters, Gay Weber of Brighton, Co; and Nancy (Jim) Anderson of LaBolt, SD; brother, Gary (Lorraine) of Kearney, NE; son, Chad (Karen) Osborne, of Bloomington, IL; daughter, Ann Osborne, of Indianola, IA; and seven grandchildren: Alex, Shelby and Mallory Welsch, of Indianola, IA; and Ella, Sophie, Owen and Nina Claire Osborne, of Bloomington, IL.
