Services for Betty Ann Blake, 87, who passed away Friday, November 6, 2015 at The Village in Indianola, will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 11 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Palmyra Cemetery.
Betty was born July 3, 1928 in Indianola, Ia to H.B. (Pete) and Bertha (Keller) Blake. She spent most of her life in Warren and Polk Counties. Her career was 37 years working for the Federal Government, retiring in 1983 from the Internal Revenue Service in Des Moines.
Betty was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Indianola, a charter member of Troy, Iowa Historical Society, and a 50 plus year member of the Rebekah Lodge where she served as President of the Assembly of Iowa and was an appointed officer of International Association of Rebekah Assemblies.
Betty delivered “Meals on Wheels” for thirteen years and volunteered for activities at her church. She enjoyed bowling and bowled in the Women’s State, National and many Odd Fellows-Rebekah’s National tournaments.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters and three brothers-in-law, Pauline (John) Dahl, Olive (Lee) Carlton and Mary (Cecil) Warren; one great niece and one great nephew. Survivors include her niece, Ann Hatcher of St. Joseph, MN; four nephews and wives, Jim (Nona) Dahl of Washington, IA, Clarke (Cecilia) Warren of Netcong, NJ, Bill (Linda) Dahl of Panora, IA, and Jeff (Kelly) Carlton of Titonka, IA; and other relatives and friends.
Betty always felt very close and proud of her sisters and their families.
Memorials may be given in Betty’s name to Rebekah Assembly of Iowa or Indianola Trinity United Presbyterian Church.
