Beverly Jean Koehlmoos
(Oct 30, 1940 - Oct 4, 2015)

Beverly Jean (Warner) Koehlmoos, daughter of Robert and Doris (Hill) Warner, was born in Adair, Iowa on October 30, 1940. She was raised on a farm in Warren County near St. Mary’s. She was the eldest of six children. From childhood on she was a natural charmer winning over the hearts of all those around her. She was crowned homecoming queen at St. Mary’s High School in 1958.
She met her husband, Orrie, while working in the Indianola community. The two married in January of 1965 and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Bev was sorority president of the Simpson College Delta Zeta chapter and graduated as a young bride. She became a teacher and was instrumental in starting the special education program in Indianola.
Bev loved to travel, read, play bridge, spend her summers in Okoboji, and most of all, to be with her family. She enjoyed following her grandkids by attending all of their many activities and taking an interest in whatever they were doing. She immediately got Facebook and Instagram accounts to keep up with all of them!
As a lifelong philanthropist, Bev was a selfless volunteer for the National Balloon Museum, Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Blood Center, the National Balloon Classic, Meals on Wheels, and by feeding the homeless once a month. She was involved in PEO Chapter BP.
Bev was a devoted wife, mom, and grandma who lived her life focused on her family and Christian faith. She lost her battle with cancer after having lived with multiple forms of the disease for 25 years.
Bev is survived by her loving husband, Orrie; her three children, Jill McConnell, Amy (Kirk) Ridout, and Ryan Koehlmoos; her six grandchildren, Anna McConnell, James McConnell, Gracie McConnell, Betsy Ridout, Meg Ridout, and Brooke Ridout; and five siblings, Marvin Warner, Pat Roth, Steven Warner, Kirk Warner, and Rick Warner. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Celebration of Life Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 7 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Indianola with inurnment of cremains to follow services in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. The visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 6 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to Redeemer Lutheran Church or the National Balloon Museum.
