Jean Nash
(Jan 29, 1933 - Aug 28, 2015)

Services for Jean Nash, 82, who passed away Friday, August 28, 2015 at home, will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 31 at the Milo United Methodist Church with burial following in the Motor Cemetery, Milo, IA.
Arlys Jean Nash was born on January 29, 1933, to Joseph Howard and Clara (Van Zuuk) Mosher of Milo, Iowa. Known as Jean or Jeanie, she attended Motor Country School and graduated from Milo High School before marrying Doyle Franklin Nash on May 29, 1953. Together they had three children: Dan, Deb, and Denise.
Jeanie played many roles in life, but first and foremost important in her life were being homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and disciple; despite her small frame, she was the sharp-tongued, quick-witted, faithful leader of her family. Jeanie developed a personal relationship with her Savior and the Lord remained near her side throughout the course of her life. Her love and support for her family, friends, and Savior was unfaltering and ever-inspiring. Jeanie rested and fed us all with her love, prayers, warm hugs, and warm cookies (or frozen in earlier years, if you happened to catch the freezer still full of cookie dough balls). There are many fond, personal memories of her selfless devotion to each member of her family: camping trips with life long friends Bob and Bev Schader to Buffalo River, AK; the many knit items she lovingly made for each child, grandchild, and great-grandchild; bonfires and Labor Day weekends with family and friends; playing games while perched on her knees on the floor with grandkids as well as great-grandkids; sewing pillowmen and quillows; the many summers spent in sleepovers with grandkids; and many others too numerous to list.
Other roles Jeanie played with equal love and pride were sister, friend, volunteer, and later book keeper and partner in Nash Well Company. Jeanie had the energy, heart, groceries, and yarn for all. She was very active with her faith: serving the Christian Union, Motor, and Methodist Churches as a Sunday/Bible school leader and member of Ladies Aid. She was a devout disciple, and spent many hours volunteering to make soul-filling delights for the various church functions throughout the year; working at Bidwell Riverside; and knitting numerous prayer shawls, cancer caps, and baby blankets. Jeanie was also active with her community, serving many years at the Information Booth for the Milo Country Christmas, as well as gathering with the neighborhood Agenda Club and dear friends on Wednesdays for coffee.
Of Jeanie’s many interests, she loved her flower and vegetable gardens; farming and calving seasons; traveling (saying her “bag was always packed”); as well as exercising, and walking with friend Karen Becker for 25 years.
Jeanie is survived her children, Dan (Carol) Nash and Deb (Dan) Comegys; son-in-law, Mike Bougher; brother, Jay (Charlotte) Mosher; sister, Joy (Darl) Reynolds; eleven grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; and in Heaven, the chain is reunited with her parents Clara and Howard Mosher, husband Doyle, daughter Denise, niece Darla, and great-granddaughter Carly.
Visitation will be held 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, August 30 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with family present to greet friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Milo United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
This memorial is provided by Overton Funeral Home, 501 West Ashland Ave., Indianola, Iowa, [http://www.overtonfuneral.com/]
