Martha Ann Stockstrom
(Apr 10, 1925 - Aug 19, 2015)

Martha Ann Galleher Stockstrom passed away August 19, 2015 at The Village Care Center in Indianola, IA. at the age of 90.
Martha Ann was born on April 10, 1925, in St Louis, MO. to Thomas Wheeler Galleher and Frances Woods Galleher. She was an only child who was very close to her cousin Peggy Jolley. The two were inseparable, spending summers in Michigan with their grandparents, and winter trips together to Florida. She loved music, dance, and the arts. She graduated from Mary Institute of St Louis in 1943, and received a degree in Nutrition from Bennett Jr. College (New York) in 1945.
Martha Ann was united in marriage to the love of her life, Arthur Stockstrom, Jr. and to this union, two sons were born: Arthur, III (Terry) and Thomas Kelly. Martha Ann and Art raised their two sons in St Louis, MO.
Martha Ann was a loving mother, wife, and homemaker, who devoted her life to doting over her family. She was actively involved in PTO and all the activities of her sons. She was their greatest cheerleader and encourager. She always had something positive and nice to say to everyone. She was a “people person” who loved to entertain, shop, and create beautiful needlepoint pillows. She played bridge with her friends on a weekly basis, thriving on the comradery.
Martha Ann and Art spent their summer vacations on Plum Lake in Sayner, WI. She loved playing golf with her husband and together they created many memories with their family, fishing, boating and enjoying the great Northwoods.
When Martha Ann’s husband passed away in 2006, she moved to be closer to her 2 sons and their families. She spent half the year with Terry and his family in Indianola, and the other half with Kelly and his family in Detroit Lakes, MN. Her greatest love was family, so she thrived on being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Martha Ann is survived by her two sons: Terry Stockstrom(Jill), formerly of Indianola, and Thomas Kelly Stockstrom (Jane) of Rochert, MN; by her five grandchildren, Sarah Boyer(Aaron) of Frazee, MN, April Wingett (Jeremiah) of Ankeny, IA, Ryan Stockstrom (Jess) of Frazee, MN, Chris Stockstrom (Michelle) of Polk City, IA and Leah Stockstrom of Oakland, CA; and by her nine great-grandchildren. They all fondly called her G.G., Grams, or Grammy.
The family will have a private memorial service at a later date. Memorials can be sent in Martha Ann’s name to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
The family wants to express their appreciation to the staff at The Village Care Center for the wonderful and loving care they gave their Mom and Grandmother.
This memorial is provided by Overton Funeral Home, 501 West Ashland Ave., Indianola, Iowa, [http://www.overtonfuneral.com/]
