Services for Ann Eubank will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, August 13 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Liberty Center Cemetery, Liberty Center, Iowa.
Ann Eubank was born July 9, 1937, in Humeston, Iowa, to Chet and Marjorie (Linton) Hockensmith. She graduated from Humeston High School in 1954. On March 30, 1957, she married Merlyn Eubank. They enjoyed 58 years together and raised four children: Randy, Ronda, Lori and Linda. Ann was a homemaker and farm wife. She passed away suddenly from this life on August 7, 2015. She was 78 years.
Ann enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, especially on holidays and special occasions. She was a wonderful cook, making special dishes for each grandchild. Ann enjoyed playing pitch with her family and was always tickled when she set someone. She enjoyed collecting antiques, growing flowers, going to country music shows and tractor pulls, and watching hummingbirds. Ann was inseparable from her husband, Merlyn, who was devoted to her as well.
Ann frequently attended her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting and school events, horse shows, and sheep shows. She enjoyed watching them and being a part of their lives. She was supportive and proud of each and every one of them and was always interested in their activities. Ann always sent cards to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries; she wanted everyone to feel important and remembered on their special dates. Even though she often didn’t feel well due to many ailments, she battled on in order to be there for her family.
Ann quickly followed Merlyn in death with only thirteen days separating their passings. They were never apart for longer than a week, and now they are together again. Ann will be deeply missed by her family who remembers her fondly for her wit, listening ear and caring ways.
Survivors include her children, Randy (Jodi) Eubank, Ronda (Steve) Smith, Lori (Kyle) Hoch, and Linda (Doug) McCormick; nine grandchildren, Daniel Hoch, Katelyn Eubank, Nick Smith, Matthew (Mary) Hoch, Mark Eubank, Jenna Hoch, Grant Smith, Clint McCormick, and Abby McCormick; two step-grandchildren, Joel and Jared Cortum; and sister, Doris Kay Mikesell. She was preceded by her husband Merlyn, her parents Chet and Marjorie (Linton) Hockensmith, and daughter-in-law Catherine Eubank.
Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 12 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
