Geraldine Leavengood passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2005, in Knoxville at the age of 91. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 17 at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends on Friday, December 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary Service at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Geraldine was born June 4, 1914 in White breast Township of Warren County, Iowa to John Edward and Catherine T. Gass Leavengood. She graduated from Melcher High School. Geraldine was united in marriage to Thomas G. Leavengood, Sr. on November 20, 1935 in Chariton, Iowa. She was a homemaker, farm wife and mother.

Geraldine was a member of the Sacred heart Catholic Church in Melcher, the Altar & Rosary Society, Melcher-Dallas Senior Center and the Birthday Club in Melcher. She enjoyed bingo, quilting, playing the organ and singing, and winning nickels and toothpaste playing cards.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas in 1983; a son, Kenny; and siblings: Florence Yeggy, Mertele Gass, Mabel Colbert, Marie Darnell, Hildreth Sullivan, Etha Prizler and J. Alfred.

She is survived by her sons, Tom, Jr. (Pat) of Melcher-Dallas, Don of Mission, TX and Bill (Linda) of Knoxville; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sisters, Beatrice Shebesta of Naples, FL and Estaline Brown of Los Angeles, CA; and nieces, nephews and friends.
