Funeral services for Allen Dean Spence, 76, who died Sunday, June 8, 2008 at Westview Care Center in Indianola, will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 12 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Allen was born the son of Glen and Faye Spence on August 19, 1931 and had lived all his life in Warren County. He farmed as a young man and retired as an over-the-road truck driver. He was a big Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.

Surviving are his daughters, Candy (Wayne) Parker of Carlisle, Deb (Bob) Elgin of Indianola; son, Brad Griffey of Des Moines; step-sons, Bill Glasgow and Frank (Ellen) Glasgow of Indianola; step-daughter, Carol (David) Dale of Indianola; sister, Dixie (Dan) Cole of Houston, TX; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and many cousins.

Visitation will be held 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 11 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. to greet friends. Memorials may be given to Kiya Koda Humane Society or the Warren County Fair. On-line condolences may be sent at www.overtonfunerals.com .
