Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 7-23-2004:

LaWanda Mae (Smith) Osenbaugh, 80, died July 19, 2004 at home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 24 at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Lacona, with burial in the Chariton Cemetery.

LaWanda was born August 8, 1923 in Russell, Iowa and graduated from Russell High School. She managed the Railroad Depot in Lacona and owned and operated the Lacona Hardware Store with her husband, Dale. LaWanda enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Dorothy Osenbaugh and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995.

Visitation is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. No family visitation is planned. Memorials may be made to the Lacona Rescue Unit or First Christian Church in Lacona.
