Wilma M. Kennedy, 92, Milo died Friday, March 8, 2013 at Mercy Hospice - Johnston.

Wilma was born on January 19, 1921 in Palmyra, Iowa to Emery & Lena (McKeever) Butterfield. She was united in marriage on December 15, 1946 to Orval Kennedy. Wilma was employed by the Des Moines Ordnance Plant in Ankeny during World War II. She would later own and operate the Milo Locker with her husband Orval.

Wilma was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary both in Milo. She enjoyed cooking, bowling, golfing, sewing and going to casinos with Orval. Wilma loved to host a 4th of July party at her home every year.

Wilma is survived by three children: Dixie (Dwight) Downey of Indianola, Larry (Edelweiss) Benedict of Milo, Thomas D. (Margene) Kennedy of Des Moines, 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Orval on July 15, 2010, son; Ronald "Butch" Kennedy and four siblings: Harold Butterfield, Helen Weyers, Robert Butterfield and Guy Butterfield.

Celebration of Life will take place at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Milo with Pastor Howard Town officiating. Memorials may be given to the Milo Rescue Unit or the Milo Public Library.
