Trula A. Blackford, 65, of Des Moines died Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Her family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, August 4 at Iles Funeral Homes-Grandview Park Chapel. Visitation will conclude with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Trula was born on September 22, 1946 in Sioux City, IA to Alva and Eleanora (Fischer) Jones. She moved to Des Moines in 1967 when she married Gerald "Russ" Blackford.

Those left to cherish Trula's memory include her husband of 45 years, Russ; son, Jason (Michelle) Blackford of Des Moines; daughter, Amanda (Scot) Shelley of Ankeny; three grandchildren, Emily and Alex Blackford and A.J. Shelley; brother, Denis (Amelia) Jones; and sister, Joye Thompson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Alva "Buddy" Jones.
