Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 10-2-2008:

Floyd John Hoffman, 85, Oskaloosa, died Monday evening, at Mahaska Hospital. Funeral Services: 7 p.m., Thursday, First Presbyterian Church in Oskaloosa. Interment: 10 a.m., Friday, Chariton Cemetery, Military Honors by the Chariton Veterans Organizations. Visitation: 1 p.m., Wednesday at Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel; Masonic Service: 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral chapel. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or Mahaska Community Health.

Floyd John Hoffman, son of Clarence Andrew and Florence Gertrude Frueh Hoffman, was born September 26, 1923, in Warren County. He was a 1942 Lucas High School graduate. He served in the Army Air Force from 1943 to 1946. He served in the South Pacific and was discharged as a Corporal. He first worked for the Central Construction Company, and the Burlington Railroad in Rochelle. 1948, Floyd started his own business supplying merchandise and equipment needed by service stations, garages, tire shops and retail stores. He retired in 1991. Floyd married Corda Baker July 2, 1949, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Floyd was a member of the First Presbyterian and the Masonic Council Lodge AF and AM.

Floyd’s family includes his wife of over 59 years, Corda Hoffman of Oskaloosa; and his sisters: Marjorie Rogers of Lucas, IA and Mary Louise Boyd of Chariton, IA.
