Edwin Joseph "Jerry" Ford, 91, passed away Monday, May 22 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A funeral mass will be held Friday, May 26 at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Milo. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Lacona. Open visitation will begin after 12 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2006 at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Lacona. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Milo.

Edwin was born in rural Milo on August 1, 1914 to Jerry and Stella Ford. He graduated from Milo High School in 1932, attended Cummings School of Art in Des Moines during 1934, and graduated from Drake University with an Art-Science Degree in 1938. During World War II, he served in the Air Force and was stationed in England and other parts of Europe. He was awarded the Bronze Star in connection with military operations.

In 1945, Edwin married Hildred Konrad from Lacona, Iowa. Their four sons are Robert of Indianola, John of Lacona, Ted of Duluth, MN and Richard of West Des Moines.

Edwin joined an advertising agency in Des Moines as an artist in 1945, and in 1948 he became an independent graphic artist in Des Moines. In 1981, Edwin retired after forty years in the art field.

Edwin was preceded in death by his wife, Hildred in 1993. Survivors include their four sons and spouses; eight grandchildren and their spouses; and four great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine Catholic Church in Milo or the Milo Community Center.
