Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 10-27-2009:

Fred Fath, 82, entered into eternal life on October 24, 2009. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 28 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27 at Brooks Funeral Care-Tonini Chapel, 2135 SW 9th, Des Moines with a 7 p.m. Rosary Service. Interment will be at the cemetery in St. Marys, IA.

Fred was born on July 22, 1927 to Rosamond and Fred J. Fath, Sr. in Des Moines, IA. He graduated from Dowling High School and was a US Navy veteran, serving during WWII and in the Korean War. He married Alice Brommel on September 3, 1950 at the Immaculate Conception Church in St. Marys, IA. Fred retired from the US Postal Service after more than 30 years of service as a mail carrier and supervisor. Fred is a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and a long-time administrator for the Traveling Fatima statue.

Fred will be missed by his wife of 59 years, Alice; children, John Fath, Therese Fath, Michael (Delora) Fath, Jeanne (Alan) Koppenhaver; Mary Kay (John) Kluesner, James (Darcy) Fath, Carolyn (Phil) Hamilton, Gregory Fath, and Marilyn (Richard) Hines; 31 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Chris; and daughter-in-laws, Diane and Linda. Preceding him in death are his parents; daughter, Rose Marie; son, Charles; and grandchildren, Allissa Fath, Carol Kluesner and John Marie Kluesner.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Anthony to be used for Mass intentions.
