Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA, date unknown:

Catherine Chumbley was born on Oct. 16, 1889, near Liberty Center the daughter of John and Mary L. Brebner. She died Dec. 2, 1959, at the Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

She taught school in Warren County a number of years, after which she was united in marriage to Joseph Pierce Chumbley on March 9, 1910.

They settled in the Browns Chapel neighborhood where they spent their entire married life. In fact, the present farm home where they have spent the last 40 years is directly across the road from their first home. They would have celebrated their 50 wedding anniversary in March of 1960. Mrs. Chumbley had been a member of the Methodist church at Liberty Center.

To this union were born four children: two daughters, Mrs. Michael Shuell of Camby, Ore., and Mrs. Calvin Twining of Des Moines; two sons, Roy Elton at home and Robert Glen of Des Moines.

In addition to her husband and immediate family, she is survived by four grandsons; four granddaughters, two sisters, Mrs. Mollie Sargent of Indianola and Mrs. Chester Edgington of Liberty Center; two brothers, Bert Brebner of Liberty Center and William Brebner of Des Moines; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
