Juanita Penick, 79, of Milo died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at the Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Services were May 7 at the Milo Christian Union Church.
Penick was born July 16, 1928, near Norwood, the daughter of John and Eulah Haltom. She attended country school at Puckerbruch and graduated from Albia High School after her family moved there early in high school.
She married John Penick May 20, 1946 in Chariton. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, flowers and sewing. She belonged to the Milo Christian Union Church.
She was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, April Penick; and siblings, Raymond Haltom, Everett Haltom and Glenn Haltom.
Survivors include her husband; her children, Gary and Jeff, both of Milo, and Cheryl Nicholl of Altoona; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Juanita was born near Norwood, Iowa to John and Eula Haltom. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking for her family. She loved her family very much and will be greatly missed by them.
Juanita is survived by her husband of 61 years John Penick; her children: Gary (Connie) Penick of Milo, Cheryl Nicholl of Altoona, and Jeff Penick of Milo; five grandchildren: Wendy Fischer, Wes Penick, Amanda Johnson, Becky Penick, and Megan Penick; and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter April Penick; and siblings: Raymond Haltom, Everett Haltom, and Glenn Haltom.
