Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 6-3-2004:

Marvelyn Dalene Hartz, 74, died June 2, 2004 at Westridge Nursing Center in Knoxville. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church in Melcher-Dallas. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery.

Mrs. Hartz was born Marvelyn D. Booth in Carlisle on January 22, 1930. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, LWML and Senior Saints. Marvelyn enjoyed her kitty's, the organ, quilting and had a wonderful sense of humor.

She is survived by her husband, Ivan Hartz; three sons, Steve Hartz of Newton, Ken Hartz of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and Brian Hartz of Menomie, WI; a daughter, Nancy Schurman of Lacona; a brother, Worth Booth of Los Angeles, CA; a sister, Marilyn Martin of LaClede, MO; and a cousin, Helen Booth Bain.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas. Memorials may be made to Hospice, Westridge Activity Fund or the St. John Lutheran Church.
