Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 4-25-1974:

Services for Homer Emory Blackford, 73, of 580 N. Pleasant Hill Blvd., Pleasant Hill, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with burial in Glendale Cemetery.

Mr. Blackford was dead of cancer on arrival at Mercy Hospital Tuesday after a short illness.

He was born in rural warren County, lived most of his life in Des Moines and was a retired truck driver. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 147 and St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Survivors include his widow, Eloise; two sons, Homer F., jr., and Carl P., both of Des Moines; four daughters, Mrs. Francis E. Dennis and Mrs. Merle Cron, both of Des Moines, and Mrs. Lowell Bence of St. Charles and Mrs. Max U. Dooley, jr., of Eldridge; a sister, Mrs. Joe Krajnovich of Kansas City, Mo., 31 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

The rosary will be recited at 7:30 o'clock tonight at Grandview Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
