Obituary from The Record-Herald and Indianola Tribune newspaper, Indianola, Warren County, Iowa, USA on 2-16-2005:

Alice E. Diekema, 86, of Mason City died Tuesday Feb. 8, 2005, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral Services were held Feb. 12, at the First Congregational Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Thom Christian and Rev. Kathy Graves officiating.

Mrs. Diekema was born May 7, 1918, the daughter of Thomas and Alice (Dyke) Chumbley in Indianola. She graduated from Indianola High School in 1935, and after college was a teacher in the Indianola and Des Moines areas. She married John Diekema, June 24, 1939 and lived in Rock Island and Des Moines before moving to Clear Lake in 1948. She was lived in the Clear Lake, Hanlontown and Mason City area ever since and worked for Park Clinic as credit manager and then went to work for Dr. Gene Kuehn in 1972 until her retirement in 1996.

She enjoyed reading, history and lively political discussion.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; two sisters, Mary Frances Chumbley and Ada Mae Healy.

Survivors include her four children, John of Manly, Tom of Blue Grass, Alice Hanley of Clear Lake, and Mary Meier of Mason City; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy Hatcher of Urbandale.

Memorials may be made to the Alice Diekema Memorial Fund.
