Obituary from The Winterset Madisonian newspaper, Winterset, Madison County, Iowa, USA on 4-16-1980:

Charles Burns Gordon of 722 N. Fifth St., Winterset, died Saturday, April 12, at Winterset Care Center North at the age of 84. He was a lifelong resident of Winterset.

Born on Aug. 23, 1895, in Winterset, he was the son of Charles William and Anna Alice Burns Gordon. An army veteran of World War I, Mr. Gordon was united in marriage to Bronna Blanche Hart Butler on Nov. 1, 1930, in Trenton, Mo. A retired painter and paper hanger, Mr. Gordon was a member of the American Legion and attended the Baptist Church.

Among the survivors are his wife Bronna; a son, Charles O. Gordon of Winterset; a stepson, Forrest Hall Butler of St. Joseph, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Mildred Louise Schirm of Winterset; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Madolyn Morrissey of Winterset. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and two sisters.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Phill Hall officiating.

Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.
