Ferman Schaefer, 86, passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Chariton Nursing and Rehab Center. Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 25, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. Family Services will be held at a later date. Memorials are requested to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lacona or to the Lacona Public Library. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.pierschbacherfuneralhome.com .

Ferman is survived by his wife of 62 years, Irma; children: Norbert (Sandy) Schaefer of Lacona, Craig Schaefer of Ft. Dodge, and Barb (Jack) Byers of Milo; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and siblings: David (Mary) Schaefer and Gerald (Jane) Schaefer. Also surviving are many relatives and friends.
