Final Rites Thursday for Mrs. Grant.

Gertrude May (Warnock) Grant
Mrs. Gertrude May Warnock Grant, 79, was found dead at her home, 1001 N. Howard, Monday morning by neighbors. Noticing no movement at the Grant residence, Charles Fisher phoned and when there was no answer, called Joe Watson, Jr., and the two men broke into the house. Mrs. Grant’s body was found near her bed. Death had apparently occurred earlier that morning.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at the First Methodist church. Burial will be in the I. O. O. F. cemetery.

Mrs. Grant was born near Avon and was married to W. W. Grant Sept. 21, 1909, at Carlisle. He served banks in Carlisle and Palmyra and in 1914 he was elected county treasurer and the Grants moved to Indianola. In 1919 he went to work in the Peoples Trust & Savings bank and was associated with its operation for 30 years until his retirement. He died April 7, 1957.

Mrs. Grant was a member of the Indianola Woman’s club, Monday club, James Whitcomb Riley club and was active in the Methodist church.

She is survived by two children, Mrs. Martha Ruth Blann of Birmingham, Mich., and George W. Grant, superintendent of schools at Dysart. There are two grandchildren: James and Mary Blann.”
