Ina Exina Ohnemus born May 5, 1918 near Bauer, IA in rural Marion County to F. Joseph and Teresa Elizabeth McLaughlin Ohnemus. She was married to Lester James Dittmer on February 14, 1939 in Bauer. They were blessed with 9 children.
Ina and Lester farmed together near Lacona until retiring to their new home in Milo in 1978. Ina enjoyed gardening, quilting, and crocheting. Lester and Ina enjoyed dancing and camping at Bluegrass Music outings, and spent many years wintering in Arizona.
Ina passed away on December 8, 2009 at the age of 91 years at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center. Preceded in death by husband Lester in 2002, her parents, one son Keith Martin Dittmer, one granddaughter Hope Ann Ripperger, two great-granddaughters Josie Rae Dittmer and Catherine Rose McMahon, one daughter-in-law Rosemary Dittmer, 7 sisters: Sr. Charlotte Ohnemus, Mary Barger, Esther Colbert, Mildred Schurman, Genevieve Ohnemus, Ruth Dittmer, and Wilma Wadle.
Survived by 5 sons: Ray (Jan), Delbert (Nancy), and Claire (Judy) all of Lacona, John (Janice) of Milo, and Kevin (Phyllis) of Columbia, IA, 3 daughters: Ruth (Flavian) Konrad of Milo, Kathy (John) Harmon and Christine (Chris) Ripperger both of Indianola, IA. Also surviving: 30 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a sister Luella Wadle of Indianola; brother-in-laws Don Wadle; Giles (Hilda) Dittmer; and sister-in-laws: Mary Dittmer, Margaret Dittmer, and Catherine Schurman.
