Dorothy Lucille Kline Taylor, 94, passed away December 7 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She was born September 24, 1915, to Raymond and Mabel Wheeler. She spent her childhood in Norwood, IA, Colorado, and Liberty Center, IA, graduating from Liberty Center High School. After attending comptometer school, she worked for the telephone company in Des Moines. Dorothy married Leland Kline in October, 1938. They lived and farmed south of Milo until Leland's death in January of 1951. Leland and Dorothy had three daughters.
Dorothy married Kenneth Taylor in August, 1969. Kenneth died in May, 1994.
Dorothy was known for her strong faith and was active in Green Plain Methodist Church for many years. She also was a dedicated PTA member, 4-H leader, county committee woman, member of the Warren County Historical Society, Farm Bureau, Country Couples and Extension Council.
Dorothy worked for the Record Herald and Indianola Tribune for many years and for the Simpson College Library.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Sharon(Dwight)Oxenreider, Boone, IA; Sandy(Al)Stevens, Springfield, IL; and Dee(Rich)James, Bettendorf, IA, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Eleanor Heemstra, Lucas, IA.
The family will meet friends from 2 to 4 on Sunday, December 11 at Peterson Funeral Home, 602 E. Salem, Indianola.
Burial will be Monday, December 12 at 9 a.m. at the Liberty Center Cemetery followed by an 11 a.m. memorial service at Peterson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Green Plain United Methodist Church and Child Fund International, Richmond, VA.
