Betty Houg, 80, passed away on April 25, 2008 at the Regency Care Center. She was born on December 7, 1927 in Des Moines.

Betty loved living and raising her family with real country values, mushroom hunting, watching wildlife and visiting with neighbors and friends over the telephone. She was retired from Corn States and worked as a counter clerk at Smith's Meats and The Lodge of Ashworth.

Her loving husband of 43 years, Bud "EE", preceded her in death. She is survived by her sons, Steve (Judy) Houg of Van Meter and Don (Tina) Houg of Winterset; daughter, Diana Yarges of Des Moines; brothers, Kenneth (Esther) of Escondido, CA, Jack (Madalene) of Norwalk; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Care in Clive. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 30 at the Cumming Community Church. Burial will be in the Norwalk Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the Iowa Hospice or Regency Care Center.
