Kenneth Gerald Crawford, 79, lived his life for his family until his death on March 27, 2009. Known to many as "KG", he is survived by the love of his life for 58 years, Therese (Tootie), and children, Steve (Sue), Janet Caputo, Kevin (Julie), Joan Oakes, Beth Clark (Keith), Richard, Rhonda Lemon (Denny) and Tom (RaeAnn), and 35 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Marjorie Henderson, and brother, Paul Crawford. He was predeceased by his father, Fon Crawford; mother, Roxanna Crawford; brothers Orval Crawford and Dale Crawford; and beloved daughter Joyce Reinert.
He was born in Truro, IA, on October 15, 1929, and married Therese on July 21, 1951. He worked for Williams Pipeline Company for 41 years until his retirement in 1988. Unable to relax, even in retirement, he continued working hard operating his own business until he could no longer deal with the long, exhausting days. Kenny Crawford was a very quiet, compassionate, kind and hard-working person. He was generous to a fault and his wry and reassuring humor caught many by surprise, even to the end.
We will rejoice in the knowledge that he is at peace and was welcomed by his daughter, Joyce. Please join us in the celebration of his life on April 1, 2009, at 1:30 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Indianola, Iowa with burial following at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Please consider placing a donation in Kenneth's name to the American Heart Association or Mercy Hospice House in Johnston.
